If we are fortunate to be able to select the timing of our retirement, one might question whether 2022 is the best time to step out of the game. Inflation is up, the stock market is down and interest rates are rising. All indicators that one should be focused on if it makes sense to retire in 2022. But the bigger question is if not now, when should you retire? If you had made the decision to retire in early 2021, the world would have looked beautiful. 14 months later – not so much!

  • Hi, I love you channel and find you well reasoned and practical. I am basically retired, age 64 and 3 months. My plan all along has been to take SS at FRA, about 2 .5 years from now. So, we are trying to bridge the gap by working some and drawing from some of our savings and investments.

As I’ve been watching the current stock market and inflation trends it dawned on me that a case could be made for taking SS early in such circumstances. Have you talked about this in any of your videos?
